A glorious weekend

Well, what a fabulous weekend. It has been warm in the sun. It is so good to feel the heat, even if it won't be long lived. We have to enjoy the sun when we can in Ireland!!! We have unsettled weather coming up.

Over the past couple of days I have been catching up with admin as well as working in the garden. I thought a catch up on my live Zoom workshops might be helpful. We had great fun on The Journey in January and Creating Unique Printing Blocks in February. The Show and Tell 2 weeks after the workshop has proved very successful, students are pleased to have an opportunity to develop their work.

There are still spaces on all workshops, so if you would like to learn a new technique, or remind yourself of the fun you can have with any of these workshops, just click the link on the workshop you fancy.

This month is Tinkering with Tyvek. I do so love working with Tyvek, you never quite know what textures you will achieve, but you know they will be FAB!! This workshop s a great way to learn how to control heat. We use an iron and a heat gun on this workshop.

There is still time to book if you fancy having a play. . .

Beautiful Boxes & Book Covers –

The price of €70 includes the one day workshop and a 2 hour group Show & Tell on Friday October 14th

to enrol, go to - https://www.kimthittichai.com/workshops

Create a fabulous box and/or book cover
We will be making larger boxes with the very firm Vlieseline S133 and smaller boxes and book covers with the more leather like Vlieseline Decovil 1 or Decovil light. The box shapes can be cut with a scalpel/knife. Both these wonderful interfacings have glue on one side so your decoration can be ironed onto this surface. You will choose how you decorate the box or book cover, whether it is with my ‘background and pretty’ technique, or maybe newspaper faux chenille – or maybe both. You will be using recycled papers and Bondaweb and all manner of sparkle. We will look at edges and how you might join the seams of your boxes. Also, how they might be fastened, ready for you to enjoy experimenting for the 2 weeks up to the Show and Tell 2 weeks after the workshop.
If you would rather go ‘off piste’ and work on free form sculpture – that would be fine too

Fabulous Cuffs & Collars –

The price of €70 includes the one day workshop and the 2 hour group Show and Tell on Friday November 11th.

The leather like Decovil 1 and Decovil light iron on interfacings are fabulous products to work with. Being heavier than most interfacings they are perfect for making decorative collars and cuffs. They are light enough to stitch into and can be cut with scissors and a soldering iron to create exciting edges. We will experiment with different ways of fastening your pieces and discover how we can create jewel like surfaces using gilding flake, transfer foil, printing and flat backed gem stones. (real or plastic). It will be a fun workshop; it will be fascinating to see what the group come up with for the show and tell 2 weeks after the workshop.
