India is calling . . The Embroidery Tour of India

Mirror Embroidery

I haven't traveled to India since before Covid. I am so looking forward to going back. And what a special trip to return with. The Embroidery Tour of India with Aahilya Holidays. January 27th - February 10th 2026. Now I am slowing down from my teaching career, I can concentrate on learning new skills. Learning more about hand embroidery stitches has been high on my list for the past few years, but I haven't had time, or head space, to give it the time it deserves. Now I have a bit more time . . . If you are in a similar situation, maybe you would like to join me? Have a look at the full itinerary here -

Whether you are an expert embroiderer or a beginner, this trip will inspire you to discover more about hand stitch and probably how to use colour and texture too.

As we travel through cities towns, villages, and a few roads less traveled - from Delhi to Patna, Muzaffarpur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bhuj and Bihar, you will meet local artisans for workshops on Puchari, Kantha, Zari, rabari, Suzani and Mirror embroidery workshops.

The Embroidery Tour of India. January 27th - February 10th 2026

The tour is fully escorted with at least one guide and myself at any time. We will be well cared for. If you have never traveled on your own before, traveling can be a bit daunting. But you will part of a group, mostly women and occasionally, the odd husband! Odd husband!! That made me laugh.

Although the tour looks a bit busy, it is well paced to accommodate - shall we say - ladies of a certain age? There is always the chance to take a break if we need to.

Be inspired by the fantastic colours and textures. We will be traveling when it is cooler in India, I don't know about you, but I can't cope with high temperatures. All of my trips are planned for the cooler times of the year, and this means there will be less tourists around too.

While we are traveling it will be great opportunity to keep notes and sketches in the travel journal that will be be supplied for everyone in the group. Just one of several treats that will be in store for you on this holiday. As we travel and learn new stitches, maybe a few of the group would like to build a stitch catalogue as we travel . .

As well as all the embroidery workshops, there will be a workshop on tie dye and also block printing. And for any of you that enjoy taking photos, India is a photographers paradise, whether you use your phone or a camera.

And of course, there is always the opportunity for shopping . . .
