Uzbekistan Tour March 2025

Remarkable Architecture

In six months I will be traveling to Uzbekistan for a nearly a month. The plan was to travel with one group on a tour of 14 days 7th - 21st April. However, that booked up so quickly, we had to add another tour for the people that missed their chance. We now have 5 places left on the second tour which is 23rd March to 7th April.

Strong simple forms

The tours are concentrating on the amazing architecture and textiles of Uzbekistan. We will also be enjoying the local foods and culture of each area we visit. I have a particular interest in in the geometric designs and colours used on many of the beautiful buildings. You will notice the buildings are generally strong, simple shapes which means you can appreciate the colour and designs. Perfect inspiration for artists and anyone interested in beautiful architecture.

Beautiful colour and form

We will also be visiting a fort in the desert, I get excited just typing that!! How amazing. Again strong shapes but less colour to distract you so you can appreciate the textures and shadows.

Isha Sharma the owner of Aahilya Holidays will be traveling with both tours, as well as an experienced guide and translator. Plus me! For whatever value I can bring to the tours.

One of the highlights of the tours will be watching and taking part in Suzani embroidery demonstrations. Suzani is a type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Suzanis usually have a cotton (sometimes silk) fabric base, which is embroidered in silk or cotton thread. Chain, satin, and buttonhole stitches are the primary stitches used. There is also extensive use of couching.

It will be fascinating to discover the meanings behind different designs and why different colours are used.

Beautiful Suzani embroidery

We will also wander through local markets, marveling at all the local spices and foods along with, no doubt there will be a few purchases of trinkets, fabrics, jewelry, local clothes and costumes, maybe even a rug to send home.

Visits to various local artisans and craft demonstrations will also be included in the tours, as well as trying all the local foods.

I'm particularly excited about visiting local artisan studios

And then there will be the colours and vibrancy of the streets. What a feast for the eyes.

The tour starts in Tashkent where you will be met by an Aahilya representative at the airport. After Tashkent we move onto Khiva, then Bukhara, then Samarkand with various stops in between. Have a look at the full itinerary here. https://www.aahilyaholidays.com/tour/a00c/-a-textile-&-architecture-journey-of-uzbekistan-2025-with-kim-thittichai

This will be a trip of a lifetime for me, and possibly for many others in the 2 groups. I have always fantasised about traveling even a small part of the Silk Route, and now it is going to happen - how wonderful. I am already planning which camera to take and all the batteries, but then maybe my phone will be enough. The quality of images on phone cameras these days are fantastic. Then I will just need a charger. Oh the decisions . . . they are all part of the planning and excitement for the trip.

If you have any questions about the Uzbekistan 2025 - March 23rd tour, do email me or Aahilya holidays and we will be happy to answer any questions.

If not - just enjoy the beautiful images on this post.

I'm now going to look at back packs with solar chargers, I know the tours are 6 months away, But you can't be too prepared . . . can you?? I just cant wait.
