Happy New Year!!

Nicola and the girls

Happy New Year!! How are you all? Have you survived the Festive Season?

I hope that you have great things to look forward to, something simple like starting to knit a new jumper or maybe a larger project?

New Year saw me and the girls (my dogs) staying at Clasheen with my dear friend Nicola Brown for a few days. We go there every year. It's a great chance for us to catch up properly, talk about things that have gone well, and some things that have not gone so well. When you work for yourself you are always learning . .

It rained almost continuously, so we didn't get any long walks in, but it was very good to sit in Nicola's cosy lounge or kitchen and just chat about anything and everything. Plus my dogs generally get on well with Pip, Nicola's dog.

A very different view from Nicola's house

Those of you that have been following me for a while, will know my house has views along the west Clare coast. Pretty amazing. Nicola has a wonderful view of the Blackstairs mountain. Her house and studio are also off the beaten track, much more so than mine. Deep in rural county Carlow.

A different view for our morning walks

The lane down to Clasheen is the perfect length for a quickish walk in between showers.  Lots of gorgeous new smells and excitements for the girls.

Nicola with the dogs along the very high and fast running Barrow river

We braved the showers on New Years Day and drove the dogs to the nearby Barrow river, a regular haunt for Nicola and Pip. The river was VERY high and running very fast. Nearly breeching the pathway. It was a very muddy walk, but lovely to get out in the fresh air.

I think Fizz found this beautiful eco printed throw very comfortable

It was a perfect break, with lots of chat and good food. Nicola is a great cook. I will see Nicola next when she and Pip come to stay in my house and look after the girls, while I go to the UK for the Fashion & Embroidery Show in March.

I have uploaded the next workshop into The Experimental Textiles Video Library & Membership - Newspaper Faux Chenille. I LOVE this process, such a fun way to use recycled papers.

A beautiful vessel made from Faux Chenille

Sue got into creating some samples last week and posted them into the private group that runs along side the workshop videos. Some students like to work on their own, but others like to join in the fun of the workshops and share ideas and chat with each other. Everything is totally private as everything is hosted on my website. Technology is so clever these days, you can do so much.

Sue then moved on to creating waves. . .

Creating a circular sample can be tricky - and quite difficult to cut - Well done that girl!!

Depending on how stiff the background you stitch onto is, you can create large structures, boxes and vessels. Everyone creates something different, I will share more with you once everyone gets back into the workshops after the break.

Due to my recent health hiccup (minor stroke, I am almost 100% now ) I am slightly behind with filming the workshops as I had to have a month off - of everything!! I should be able to get almost all workshops up ready for the end of this month.

Have a look at the workshops here . . www.kimthittichai.com/

The next newsletter will have a €50 discount coupon code on the full price of €350 for an annual subscription. To subscribe to my newsletter just go to the bottom of any page of my website - link above. The coupon will be live until midnight, Dublin time on January 31st. After that there will be no more discounts.

Enjoy the rest of the month, I will be knee deep filming my favourite processes.
