Catching up with work and workshops

Image
Donals Boat, Carrigaholt, Clare. One of the photos I have selected for my exhibition in October. How are you all doing? On holiday somewhere warm? Still at work at this time of day? Wherever you are reading this in the world. Thinking about cooking lunch or dinner? Whatever you are doing - I hope all is well in your world. Here in Ireland you can feel the season is about to start to change. The nights are starting to get darker, earlier, and it is quite chilly in the evenings. As my Nana used to say "Winter draw(er)s on"!   A car load of colourful farm plastic       I am starting to think about the work I am going to make for my next local exhibition. It is going to be a combination of photographs, textile wall pieces and a few large-ish plastic vessels. The soft plastic I have been collecting from local farms has been piling up, it will be good to finally decide what I will be doing with it. 4ft vessels hopefully and a few bowls. I just need to work out how many lay...

A beautiful new website

Me outside the studio          It's all about trust! I am SO excited. My new website is up and ready for you to see and enjoy. Created by David Kelly of  ttps://www.lukewarmvolcano.com .   The site has a shop as well as information about my workshops, you can also book on a workshop through the website. So much easier, and you get an idea of how and why I live on the beautiful Loop Head peninsula. Do have a good look around and let me know what you think. www.kimthittichai.com I am particularly excited about the video on the About Kim page. I really don't like being filmed and photographed. Working with someone who is so professional and has a clear idea of what he needed to film to tell the story, made it much easier. It was great to see my property from a different angle and height. Any of you that know me or have worked with me, will know how independent I am and that I hate being managed! After several good long talks about what I wante...

Having fun on the Zoom workshops.

Painted and textured Tyvek and painted Lutradur cut with a soldering iron. Workshop 6 - Zap, Pow, Slash & 3D. Well it's been a busy few weeks. We had another shoot for the new website. I think we have everything we need now. Today we were shooting with a drone for some landscape shots around the house. I think we can safely say Fizz and Pop are not fans of drones.  They HATED the noise and the hovering. So much for having shots of them from above gamboling happily in my field. Never mind - we tried. David has already taken all the photos of my photos, we had fun moving the furniture around to get the 'feel' for each image. It will be great to be able to sell my work online. Here are few images of David from  Lukewarm Volcano at work.   I am really looking forward to seeing these shots on the new website.  *** The Show and Tell for Raising the Surface went well. I am so glad I decided to do a show and tell 2 weeks after each workshop. It means I get to see what t...

Teaching is such a privilege and I have added a new workshop - Bonkers about Bondaweb!

A fabulous denim bag created by Meryl Hayes after the New Starting Point workshop using decorated papers and painted Bondaweb. A detail of Meryl's fabulous bag. Isn't this book cover great? One of several makes from Frances using the Backgrounds and Pretties technique with painted Bondaweb and painted papers.   The photos are still coming of new pieces from students on the first 3 workshops. I love that they want to share what they are doing.   Well was a longer break between blog posts than I was planning. I had to nip to the UK for a week to sort out a sad family event. Then I had the Astrazeneca jab, and that was it - for TWO weeks. I didn't see that coming!! I had full on flu and am now slowly recovering. I am hoping the second jab won't give me any side effects at all.  So, apologies for the break in transmission. I have a lot to catch you up on. Workshop 3 Creating Original Designs and Printing Blocks was just brilliant, we had a smaller group of 10 - we usually h...
