A beautiful torn paper sample. I am nearly at the end of my three week teaching tour of the West Country. I have a day off today to tootle around Honiton and then drive to Nailsworth near Stroud for my last 2 day workshop tomorrow and Wednesday. Then it is home. Last week I taught for three days at the Beads for Beauty studio in Babbacombe run by Sylvia McCann and her daughter Alison.   www.fabbeads.co.uk A two day version of 'A New Starting Point' and a one day workshop - 'Now You See It' which I will write up when I get back home. I love teaching at Sylvia's, it is a well equipped workroom and everyone is always so well looked after. A New Starting Point is my newspaper based workshop. Great fun!   Who would have thought you could have such fun with  old newspapers and books. A good roomy and well equipped workroom. Getting down to decorating the newspaper samples. I love teaching this workshop, you never quite know what is going to

It was worth having a little hint in the last post - Janet sent me 2 images of how she is beginning to stitch in to her samples.    Starting to look good . . .   The one day workshop on Sunday was A New Starting Point - the day started well with Noel cooking me an 'Ulster fry' - How could I refuse???    A girl needs a good start to the day . . . I must say that the ladies of The Northern Ireland Embroidery Guild  www.nieg.org.uk are very good fun - and also VERY talented. I had the best weekend teaching this fabulous group of women.  The ladies working hard.    Just look at that bottom lip . . . !!!! Joanne/Joanna was particularly good fun.    Lots of layering of papers, painted Bondaweb and of course - sparkles.             The papers were then printed onto - preferably with a colour that is already in the works so the print isn't tooooo 'in your face'!!        I will show you the finished samples in

Gorgeous late sunflowers outside the teaching studio.  Well it's not quite Sunday!! Just three days late, There seems to be so much to do with all the autumn shows coming up. It feels a while since I was at Denman, but it was only ten days ago. Denman College is the home of the W.I. but you don't have to be member to enrol on the workshops. www.denman.org.uk Denman has very beautiful grounds that are well kept and glorious at any time of the year.    A rather tropical planting scheme to welcome you at the front door.  One of the many reasons I like teaching at Denman is the food - and at morning coffee and afternoon tea we have biscuits and  . .  cakes!! yum!!! All made in the Denman kitchens - we are always very spoilt.  These little cheeky chaps had a glace cherry secreted inside - a lovely surprise when you bit into them - them!! I only had one - honest!   My group of lovely ladies, with naughty Hilary on the far left . . So - the workshop was Hot
