Starting to paint The Journey. Not such a long wait this time. This is my third workshop of seven on my tour of the West Country. This was the second time I have taught at Roseland Mews, Liskeard for Jane Lockyer. I love it there, it is a beautiful area. Jane's studio is in a lovely garden with stunning views. Jane runs courses all year round - do have a look - www.lynhervalley.co.uk/roselandmewsstudio The group was very enthusiastic and got to grips to what was needed fast. As the previous post included The Journey in St Ives I will skip through this quite fast.    Painting the journey, building up shapes and lines. All the The Journeys lined up on the floor. We also did the 'flipping out' exercise. Here, a section is being taken. The isolated design is being traced off. The food at Roseland Mews is quite fantastic.   For £6 you can order a lunch, there is such a choice. This was one of the open sandwiches - deeelicious!   Playing w

Painted Bondaweb decorated with snips of polyester organza and hand stitch. Hot Textiles workshop. I am now back in the swing of things, I hadn't quite appreciated that the knee op would also affect my brain!!! It has taken a long time to get back to 'normal'. I have been planning several trips, both here and New Zealand, and am looking at what is coming up. There are a couple of spaces left on my workshop for the North Kent Guild in Meopham, Kent this weekend. (June 27th) The workshop is Hot Textiles. If you are interested do email suzannecooper55@gmail.com  *   There are also a couple of spaces left on my workshop 'Colourworks' at The Bridge, Brighton the following weekend July 4th & 5th. We will take a look at colour theory (we all need it!) and then go on to tear, cut, curl, pleat and manipulate paper to create beautiful, colourful vessels, book covers or a wall piece. phone 01273 687053  http://bit.ly/1RvYY6P   *  Lo

A great piece of newspaper faux chenille.  The next stop on the journey was Roseland Mews Studio in Liskeard. Set in lush green gardens, the studio is well equipped, light and has great ventilation. We had 13 in the group and boy did they work hard. A New Starting Point is my newspaper based workshop and I think you will agree, the group produced some fabulous samples. We started off painting up Bondaweb and newspapers then while that was drying the group machine stitched layers of unpainted newspaper together to create their first faux chenille sample. We would colour wash these samples later in the day. Then it was onto the 'pretties and bckground' tearing technique that I have developed with newspaper and painted Bondaweb. Having permission to play with all manner of sparkly delights tends to bring out the inner princess in most students as they fling glitter, gilding flake and dot jewels onto their work with abandon. The play element in any works
