A beautiful sample of Vilene Spunbond CS500 that has been backed with Bondaweb and then cut with a soldering iron. The cut shapes are then ironed onto more Vilene Spunbond. It is Wednesday - halfway through my week at Ballarat. There are 16 tutors teaching groups of students all over Ballarat Grammar School. We all are having a great time and working hard. We have an afternoon off today so i am catching up on the blog and then I will have a snooze - I need to re-charge my batteries - I am still not quite right - the drugs help a lot though!  my girls painting acres of Bondaweb I have a FABULOUS group of students, they are very patient with this strange women from the U.K. who shouts orders at them - they are starting to get used to me . . . . HOT New Surfaces for Stitch - Day 2

  Vilene Spunbond layered with polyester organza So - the second day. We played with distressing Tyvek this morning using single layers and ironing lightly between baking parchment and this afternoon we started layering properly - combining layers of Tyvek with polyester organza, and then Vilene Spunbond with polyester organza. Tyvek and polyester organza before it was zapped with a heat gun and after it was zapped Vilene Spunbond and polyester organza before it was zapped and after it was zapped   This is the 'naughty' table taking tea in the garden, when you are using heat guns it is important to have regular breaks , preferably in the fresh air  This is Kevin of Art Van Go - partner to Viv   . . .  and this is Viv I love teaching at Art Van Go, apart from the fact that everything is so well organised, we are waited on hand and foot and they serve chocolates with afternoon tea - It is always good to see Viv and Kevin. I don't see them often enough so it is great

Off to Emsworth . . .

75gm (heavy) Tyvek ironed lightly between baking parchment I am off to Emsworth later today to deliver a lecture this evening and two one day workshops - Tinkering with Tyvek. I had been booked for just one workshop but the waiting list was so long we had enough for another day. I am excited about spending two days playing with Tyvek. I have taught so many 'Hot Textiles' based workshop recently it will be a welcome change.  layered decreasing shapes of 75gm Tyvek (Heavy) stitched in the middle and gentle heated 75 gm Tyvek (heavy) layered with polyester organza, machine stitched together then zapped with a heat gun to reveal different layers of colour I will update the blog with all our exploits at the end of the week, I shall be a bit tight for time as I drive to France the day after I get back from Emsworth to see my friends Sue and John to sort out our teaching programme next year. I'm looking forward to driving down to the Charente Maritime district where they live,
