Starting to paint The Journey. Not such a long wait this time. This is my third workshop of seven on my tour of the West Country. This was the second time I have taught at Roseland Mews, Liskeard for Jane Lockyer. I love it there, it is a beautiful area. Jane's studio is in a lovely garden with stunning views. Jane runs courses all year round - do have a look - www.lynhervalley.co.uk/roselandmewsstudio The group was very enthusiastic and got to grips to what was needed fast. As the previous post included The Journey in St Ives I will skip through this quite fast.    Painting the journey, building up shapes and lines. All the The Journeys lined up on the floor. We also did the 'flipping out' exercise. Here, a section is being taken. The isolated design is being traced off. The food at Roseland Mews is quite fantastic.   For £6 you can order a lunch, there is such a choice. This was one of the open sandwiches - deeelicious!   Playing w

These are the first two of seven workshops o n my teaching tour o f the West Country. My f i rst stop was Catcott in Wiltshire where I stayed with the very lovey Sue Anderson . The workshop was Transforming Transfer with the Avalon Embroiderers Guild. They are a fabulous group. Very friendly and helpful and they produced some fabulous work. This is their website with contact details.  avalonembroiderersguild   If you l i ve in their area, they would be a great group to join, there is lots going on with something for everyone . Transforming Transfer - Transfer paints (disperse dyes) are painted onto copy paper. W hen dry they are ironed onto synthetic fab ric. The dye forms a che mi cal bond with synthetic fabric and is immediately washable and colourfast.

Having a look about in County Clare, Ireland. 12 - 18 April

And so the journey begins . .  I am traveling in Ireland for a few days. I am here to start getting an idea of which area of County Clare I would like to move to. I have had a wonderful time exploring, wandering off wherever I fancy. I knew I wanted to be somewhere near the coast - no more than half an hour away, and no more than an hour away from Shannon airport. I THINK I have an idea of where I would like to live now. It will of course, depend on where the house I would like to buy is situated. I may have to compromise. Ideally I would like to live in the triangle between Lahinch, Ennistymon and Milltown Malby.  Lahinch beach, very popular with surfers. You can walk for miles, it is very beautiful. There is one very narrow road in and and out. The beach at Lahinch is stunning but will be busy in the summer so not too near there. Ennistymon is a lovely, very colourful town. I will need to be close to some kind of amenities.   Ennistymon high street.
