A scrumptious sample of textured and foiled Tyvek. I am finally catching up with myself, have been in rather a headless chicken mode for the past few weeks - things are bit calmer now. I have a few days in between each teaching session now right up to when the shows start next month. As long as I keep moving I will be fine. So . . . I have a new teaching venue in Brighton, just 10 minutes up the road from me, I can't believe how close it is - such a treat. I have booked some more workshops for next summer and once I have decided what I will be teaching, I will let you all know the dates and workshop information. The Bridge Community Education Centre is light and airy place with plenty of well equipped rooms and a fabulous cafe with scrummy food.   A colour wheel and a tints, tones and shades chart.  Here we are back at the IDC studios at The Old Needle Works in Redditch www.inkberrowdesigncentre.co.uk/experimental-textiles. I am teaching my two ExTex 3 groups - we have a Thursday/Friday group and a Saturday/Sunday group. This month we are looking at the use of colour in art and textiles and painting colour wheels and tints, tones and shades charts. We will also be playing with their printing blocks along with wax crayons and procion dye.    Painting the colour wheels.  Some very pretty mixing plates.  A finished colour wheel.   Various weights of Spunbond/Lutradur painted with very dilute acrylic paint. When dry, the Spunbond/Lutradur was ironed onto Bondaweb (leaving the backing paper on the Bondaweb). Shapes were then cut out with a soldering iron, lifted off the backing paper and ironed onto a background of painted Spunbond/Lutradur. I have been stocktaking this week for my end of year accounts and have realised there is no point hanging on to my supplies of the light and medium weight Spunbond/Lutradur till next March to sell at the Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch show. These weights have now been discontinued, which is a great shame.     Vilene Spunbond CS500 and polyester organza decorated with painted Bondaweb then zapped with a heat gun and ripped apart. Hot, New Jewelled Surfaces was the workshop and it was a local group for a change - Context. A great group of ladies - we had 14 for the workshop. The main idea of the workshop is to teach the safe use of heat tools. Irons, heat guns and soldering irons while having a thoroughly good time  The group getting down to work with the painted Bondaweb.     Busy girls and a very busy table . . .      Oh dear - there were some absolutely delicious cakes.MMmmmmm!! We were working with painted Bondaweb and Vilene Spunbond/Lutradur and of course all manner of sparkles. The group really enjoyed cutting out shapes with a soldering iron. This process is basically cutting shapes for bonded applique.
