Hot Layered Textiles - Nailsworth Subsrciption Rooms May 10th & 11th

A rather delicious collection of decorated and zapped polyester organza.  This was the last workshop on my West Country run. I must admit I was a wee bit tired by the time I got there. All these workshops seemed like such a great idea at the time!!! Hot Layered Textiles is a combination workshop. Working with requested products. The products chosen for Nailsworth were Lutradur/CS800 Vilene Spunbond, Tyvek, Bondaweb and polyester organza. When you are teaching a run of workshops in a certain area it is important to make sure you don't teach something similar too close to another one. It's all in the planning - which took about a year!!  The workshop organiser, Becca, approached me when she heard that I was planning a run of workshops in Devon and Cornwall and asked if I might add Nailsworth either at the beginning or the end of the run. We decided I would do it at the end.  A very enthusiastic group working away happily. The workshop was held in the subscrip

My new stencils - Are now sold out. The stencils are based on one my sketches of a shell I photographed on Moreaki beach on the South Island of New Zealand. The shell is tiny - my sketch is much larger than life size. I had decided to sell the stencil packs at my next show - Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch at the NEC next month - they will be £15 for a pack of 3. My new stencils are laser cut from 350 micron mylar and can be used for all sorts of applications. This post is showing you how to use them with KK Glue but they can be used with paints and sprays just like any other stencil. KK Glue - a very fine glue powder. The bottle has a screw top lid so you can return any surplus powder to the bottle. This retails for £5.9 0 for 50g.  KK Glue is washable up to 40 degrees but when using with transfer foil, the transfer foil is only washable up to  30 degrees.  There are holes on one side of the cap for sprinkling, the other side is for pouring.

Hot Textiles at Art Van Go - September 8th and 9th

A smashing sample of decorated, painted Bondaweb. I love teaching at Art Van Go , everyone is so well looked after. Even when the team are busy they find time for you. My workshop was a 2 day version of Hot Textiles. My basic workshop for learning how to use heat tools and how to distress synthetic fabrics.  It always amazes me how we start with an empty room, create mayhem, have lots of fun and then everything is tidied away at the end of the workshop and every one leaves. . . . and it's back to an empty room again. It's like magic! The teaching studio/gallery. The workshop was full with a waiting list which is always satisfying.  First of all we painted up all the products which took most of the morning. We painted Bondaweb, Tyvek and Lutradur. Painting the products and making notes. Tyvek drying on the floor of the studio. More painting.   Using Lumiere paints, scrummy. Painted Bondaweb ironed onto black cotton - just fabulous.
