The Jersey Textile Showcase - March 5th - 11th Part the second . . .

 Painted Bondaweb ironed onto black cotton decorated with transfer foil and gilding flake.  The third workshop I taught was 'On the Surface', a fast paced 3 hour workshop that was great fun and full of very naughty students - the main protagonist was Denice Walker who attended all my workshops - we had a great time. The entire time of the The Jersey Textile Showcase felt like a fast moving, most enjoyable holiday. On the Surface is a painted Bondaweb based workshop where all kinds of glitter and sparkle is allowed.  This was the main table of naughtiness . . . there was quite a party atmosphere!  Here are just a few of the samples -      As you can see the group were prolific - and talented. There were several functions in the evenings - one of them being a rather splendid 'do' at the local posh hotel.   A lovely sample using torn strips of paper serviette along with the newspaper, painted Bondaweb and sparkle. I have spread this trip over 3 posts as the ladies produced some fabulous samples on both workshops. A New Starting Point is my newspaper based workshop that also combines printing onto the backgrounds with printing blocks.  The Northern Ireland Embroidery Guild is a thriving group of all ages but as with all groups they can always do with more members. Hot, New Jewelled Surfaces with the Context group - 5th October.

    Vilene Spunbond CS500 and polyester organza decorated with painted Bondaweb then zapped with a heat gun and ripped apart. Hot, New Jewelled Surfaces was the workshop and it was a local group for a change - Context. A great group of ladies - we had 14 for the workshop. The main idea of the workshop is to teach the safe use of heat tools. Irons, heat guns and soldering irons while having a thoroughly good time  The group getting down to work with the painted Bondaweb.     Busy girls and a very busy table . . .      Oh dear - there were some absolutely delicious cakes.MMmmmmm!! We were working with painted Bondaweb and Vilene Spunbond/Lutradur and of course all manner of sparkles. The group really enjoyed cutting out shapes with a soldering iron. This process is basically cutting shapes for bonded applique.
