Transforming Transfer - Art Van Go, 2 - 4 September

Image
A leaf has been used as a resist and then turned over and printed off. I am very late with this post - Life has been hectic and I have had friends from New Zealand staying with me. So to catch up . . . . Transforming Transfer was a two day workshop that I very much hoped would run at Art Van Go . Transfer paints are actually disperse dyes. They were created in the 1920's to colour the new fabric made from nylon - which was synthetic.  Disperse or transfer dyes seem to have fallen from popularity in the past ten years or so. It is one of my favourite printing processes and because you are printing onto synthetic fabric, it can be cut with a soldering iron and zapped with a heat gun! 'Procion' dyes dye cotton, silk and viscose. 'Acid' dyes dye wool and silk and 'Disperse' dyes dye synthetic fabrics. Because the disperse dye is painted or printed onto paper and then transferred to synthetic fabric with heat - the dye have become known as 'transfer

SALE of Vilene Spunbond/Lutradur!!! While stock lasts . . . !

Various weights of Spunbond/Lutradur painted with very dilute acrylic paint. When dry, the Spunbond/Lutradur was ironed onto Bondaweb (leaving the backing paper on the Bondaweb). Shapes were then cut out with a soldering iron, lifted off the backing paper and ironed onto a background of painted Spunbond/Lutradur. I have been stocktaking this week for my end of year accounts and have realised there is no point hanging on to my supplies of the light and medium weight Spunbond/Lutradur till next March to sell at the Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch show. These weights have now been discontinued, which is a great shame. So -   For 2 weeks only - the prices will be reduced from   Light weight - CS500 - £5 - £3.50 Light weight crashed - £6 - £4   Medium weight CS700 - £7 - £4.50   This offer ends at midnight on the 18th July or until my stock runs out.   This is link to the Spunbond/Lutradur page .   http://www.nid-noi.com/product/L

In the Garden

In the garden, a joint quilt by Wilma and Beth. Well I'm here, though it is hard to believe, until I hear the call/croaks of the birds ans see all the beautiful flora and fauna. The flights were great, all on time with great service. I am starting to feel the right way up - though I am waking up as bright as a button at 3am. Hopefully that will get later as the days wear on. I have just returned from seeing a fabulous and very colourful exhibition at The Q Gallery, Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre. The work is by Wilma Cawley and Beth Miller. This is the first time I have posted the blog from my IPad. I am still learning how to use it, so please forgive the odd layout. I can't work out how to centre things. . . . .  Over the last few days I have been ferried about by the wonderful Robyn Duncan who is my hostess while I am in Canberra. Nothing is too much trouble, we are having a great time.  Robyn knows Wilma and was also keen to see the exhibiti
