Image
A great torn and layered paper sample. I love teaching on Jersey at The Harbour Gallery . It's a great space, right next to the cafe . . all that fabulous food, and of course, cake.  My first workshop was at a local girls school, Beaulieu. We had a session with torn newspaper and magazines and Bondaweb. The girls produced some fabulous samples that could then be interfaced and stitched, or made into boxes, jewelry . . . Here a few of the great samples from Beaulieu school - Aren't they good?  That evening I opened the Diversity exhibition at The Harbour Gallery, a very talented group of textile artists were showing their work. The opening of the exhibition was well attended and there were several sales. There was lovely atmosphere, a great buzz. Whatever exhibition is on, The Harbour Gallery is a great place to wander around with many resident artists along with craft and art supplies. I was booked to teach 3 one day work

I am off to Dublin airport to fly to Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand. Let's hope it has stopped shaking. I dont fly til 8.30pm, but I need to park etc.   I will be staying with my good friend Denise and her hubby on their farm for 4 days then I will be flying up to Auckland on the North Island to start 3 weeks of teaching. I hope to be able to drop in on Alysn Midgelow Marsden and inspect her new home and her new aircraft hanger of a studio, jealous?? ME??  Denise hiding in the foliage on her verandah. Gore Bay. Close to the farm, great for long walks.   Denise lives in Cheviot and has been coping with almost continual shaking of the ground since the big earthquake earlier in the year. They had a 4.9 shake 2 weeks ago. Scary. Cheviot was cut off for several weeks until the roads were cleared. I hope to be able to have a

Just strips of torn paper, laying, waiting to be ironed down. They fell into a rather splendid design. Am slowly catching up after my op. I am moving about pretty easily - just a bit stiff and sore. I start physio this week, that should sort me out!!!!  I hope to start sending out orders this week. nid-noi.com has been busy in the last 2 weeks, I should be able to get most of the orders out by Friday. Whilst I can't drive till the beginning of June. I can get the bus to the post office.  The last workshop I taught before the op was 'On the Surface' at The Bridge, Brighton. This venue is only 10 minutes from my house - such a treat! There were only 4 students booked on the course - so we were a select few - 2 of the group have been on other classes with in the Brighton area. I decided to run the course with 4. I like teaching at The Bridge, it is very airy and spacious.   I teach in the art room, we can get messy in there. 'On the Surface' is my origi
